Olympique de Marseille expect to be without the versatile Stéphane Mbia for "several weeks" after the Cameroon international sustained a thigh injury on Sunday.

The 25-year-old left the pitch 72 minutes into Marseille's 3-1 French Cup victory against Ligue 2 side Le Havre AC, with scans revealing a quadriceps injury which the club believe will put him out of action for "about a month".

Mbia, who had been expected provide cover for defender Souleymane Diawara while he is at the Africa Cup Of Nations with Senegal, is likely to miss the UEFA Champions League round of 16 opener at home against FC Internazionale Milano on 22 February. The return at San Siro is scheduled for 13 March.
