FC Spartak Moskva

A skilful left-footed midfielder with natural balance and a potent shot, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov appeared in all five of Russia's games at UEFA EURO 2008. He subsequently earned a move to English club Everton FC, but after a bittersweet experience on Merseyside he returned home in January 2012, joining FC Spartak Moskva.

• A product of the FC Lokomotiv Moskva academy, he became a Russian Premier League regular at 19 and won the domestic championship in his debut season (2004), scoring five goals, including the opener in the Railwaymen's decisive last-day 2-0 win at FC Shinnik Yaroslavl.

• Handed his Russia debut − against Latvia in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier − in the midst of a UEFA Champions League qualifying tie with SK Rapid Wien, which Lokomotiv lost 2-1 on aggregate, later reaching the UEFA Cup round of 32 instead.

• A Russian Cup winner with Lokomotiv in 2007, he became a fully integrated member of Guus Hiddink's team in the UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying campaign, starting ten matches, before featuring in all five games at the finals.

• Left Lokomotiv, where he was the club captain, for Everton in the summer of 2009 but struggled to impose himself as a first-team regular after a promising debut campaign, in which he scored some memorable goals, and was sold to Spartak midway through the 2011/12 season.

• Scored both goals for Russia in the opening leg of their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off against Slovenia but the team were eliminated on away goals; four of his five UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying outings were as a substitute.
