Jores Okore

FC Nordsjælland

A surprise selection in Denmark's UEFA EURO 2012 squad, Jores Okore is a composed and authoritative young centre-back of Ivorian descent who has impressed for FC Nordsjælland alongside another Danish international, Andreas Bjelland. He made his international debut in November 2011.

• Born in Abidjan, he left the Ivorian capital for Denmark as a child and grew up in the Copenhagen suburbs, playing youth football for local club B93.

• Scouted by Nordsjælland, he joined the Farum outfit in 2007 and captained the youth side but did not make his Superligaen debut until April 2011.

• Ended the 2010/11 season as a regular in the Nordsjælland defence and played the full 90 minutes of the Danish Cup final, helping Morten Wieghorst's side to retain the trophy with a 3-2 victory over FC Midtjylland at Parken.

• Made his senior international debut in the same stadium six months later when he replaced Bjelland 63 minutes into a friendly against Sweden, which Denmark won 2-0; his first 90-minute outing came four days later in Esbjerg as Finland were defeated 2-1.

• Scored his first Superligaen goal on 18 September 2011 in a 2-0 defeat of Brøndby IF, his only one that season as Nordsjælland pipped FC København to their first Danish title.
