Malmö FF

Clubs: Malmö FF (twice), Halmstads BK (loan), AFC Ajax, SV Werder Bremen, Real Racing Club (loan), West Bromwich Albion FC

• Started his career with home-town Malmö FF but became a household name in Sweden during the 2004 season when sent on loan to Halmstads BK; although Malmö won the title, he scored 14 goals as Halmstad pushed them hard and finished a close second.

• Returned to Malmö in 2005 but after half a season joined AFC Ajax, scoring 12 goals in his debut Eredivisie campaign and winning the Dutch Cup.

• Lost his place at Ajax the following season to Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and moved in January 2007 to Bremen, where he scored 22 Bundesliga goals in his first 18 months.

• Found the net on his debut for Sweden – a 1-1 draw against South Korea in Los Angeles on 22 January 2005 – and also in his first competitive encounter, a UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein, but he was unused at the 2006 World Cup and managed only two substitute outings at UEFA EURO 2008.

• Lost his place at Bremen in 2009/10 and spent the following season on loan to Spain's Real Racing Club, scoring nine goals in 33 outings; returned to Bremen in 2011/12 and scored ten goals, including five in his last seven Bundesliga games to earn a place in Sweden's UEFA EURO 2012 squad where he appeared twice.

• Moved to England with West Brom for 2012/13 season, but failed to find the net from 24 Premier League appearanvces in his first term. Fell out of favour the following season, returning to his first club Malmö in Janury 2014.
