Jardim takes command at Olympiacos

Leonardo Jardim has taken charge of Greek champions Olympiacos FC on a two-year contract, saying: "We are aiming high and have the ability to achieve our goals."

Leonardo Jardim has been confirmed as the new coach of Greek double winners Olympiacos FC, with the Portuguese technician signing a two-year contract in Piraeus.

The Venezuelan-born Jardim, 37, said: "I am happy to sign for Olympiacos, the greatest club in Greece and one of Europe's finest clubs. We are aiming high and have the ability to achieve our goals. We want to win the domestic double and qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. I want to have a good quality team, one that respects that the fans want to see attractive football but remains as ambitious as ever and wins titles."

Having moved into coaching with AD Camacha, taking sole command in his late 20s, he went on to coach CD Chaves, then led SC Beira-Mar to promotion to Portugal's top division. He replaced Domingos Paciênca at SC Braga, after the Arsenalistas had played in the final of the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League, leading them to a third-placed finish this season before taking up the Olympiacos post left vacant by Ernesto Valverde's departure.
