FC Internazionale Milano have signed Slovenian international goalkeeper Samir Handanovič in a co-ownership deal with Udinese Calcio, midfielder Davide Faraoni moving to the Stadio Friuli as part of the deal.

Handanovič, 28, has been capped 56 times for Slovenia and was an ever-present for Udinese in Serie A last term, keeping 17 clean sheets to help his team to third in the league. He leaves the Zebrette having made 179 Serie A appearances.

An NK Domžale trainee, he moved to Udine aged 20 in 2004 and had loan spells at FC Treviso, S.S. Lazio and AC Rimini before returning to Udinese and becoming a key player.

One of the club's most consistent performers, Handanovič has also carved out a reputation as a penalty-saver in Italy. He has stopped 14 of the 39 spot kicks he has faced in the league for Udinese, including six in 2010/11 – a Serie A record.

Handanovič is Inter's second summer arrival following Matías Silvestre's loan from US Città di Palermo, as the Nerazzurri strengthen ahead of their first UEFA Europa League campaign, which begins in the third qualifying round.
