PSG prise Ibrahimović away from Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimović said "I'm here to win and nothing else" after the Sweden striker left AC Milan to join Paris Saint-Germain FC, who have also signed teenager Marco Verratti for €13m.

Paris Saint-Germain FC have continued to strengthen ahead of the UEFA Champions League group stage with the signings of AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimović and midfield prospect Marco Verratti from Italian side Pescara Calcio.

Ibrahimović, 30, has signed a three-year contract and joins Thiago Silva in moving from Milan to the French capital, after the Brazil defender completed his transfer on Saturday. The former Malmö FF, AFC Ajax, Juventus, FC Internazionale Milano and FC Barcelona forward scored 42 goals in 61 appearances in two seasons at San Siro and captained Sweden at UEFA EURO 2012.

"It's a big step in my career and another dream come true," said Ibrahimović. "I am very happy because it's a project that I want to be involved in. I want to be part of the history of the club. I'm here to win and nothing else. I'm pretty sure we can do it and we'll enjoy all the trophies we bring home."

PSG's sporting director Leonardo added: "A person, not only a player, like Zlatan gives our club the opportunity to grow. It's the reason why I think he's the perfect signing."

PSG have also signed 19-year-old Italy Under-21 international Verratti on a five-year contract for a €13m fee. The attacking midfielder made 31 appearances for the Delfini last term as they were promoted to Italy's top flight as Serie B champions. "I am only 19 so I still have to prove myself," said Verratti. "I'll try to show my class in every game that I play."

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: "I hope he is the future of the club and the future of Italy. Our strategy is not only based on big players but also on youngsters." The new recruits will join Ezequiel Lavezzi, who secured his move to Les Rouge et Bleu from SSC Napoli earlier this month. Last season's Ligue 1 runners-up will be in the UEFA Champions League group stage draw on 30 August.
