UEFA Champions League play-off round contenders FC Spartak Moskva have acquired the services of Argentinian defender Juan Manuel Insaurralde from CA Boca Juniors for a reported fee of €3.25m.

Capped twice by his country, the 27-year-old will be embarking on his first adventure in Europe after two years at Boca, whom he joined from CA Newell's Old Boys in 2010. Insaurralde scored five goals in 79 matches for Boca and helped them clinch the 2011 Apertura title.

Meanwhile, Spartak have agreed to let goalkeeper Nikolai Zabolotni join FC Rostov on loan until the end of the season. The Moscow outfit finished second in the Russian Premier League last term and will take part in the UEFA Champions League play-off round on 21/22 and 28/29 August. They have started the new Russian campaign with two wins from two fixtures.
