sc Heerenveen have boosted their attacking ranks with the signing of KSC Lokeren OV forward Alfred Finnbogason for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old Icelandic international has penned a three-year deal at the Abe Lenstra Stadium, with the option of a further 12 months, after impressing coach Marco van Basten with his performances on loan at Helsingborgs IF.

Finnbogason scored 12 times in 17 league matches with the Swedish champions and helped them reach the UEFA Champions League play-offs. The former Breidablik player's arrival will be a major fillip for a Heerenveen side that has lost Bas Dost and Luciano Narsingh to VfL Wolfsburg and PSV Eindhoven respectively.

Heerenveen face Molde FK next Thursday in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off tie.
