City strengthen with quintet of signings

Manchester City FC have added to their squad with a quintet of new faces, completing the signings of Javi García, Scott Sinclair, Maicon, Matija Nastasić and Richard Wright.

Manchester City FC have bolstered their squad with five new players on the final day of the transfer window, bringing in Javi García from SL Benfica, Scott Sinclair from Swansea City AFC, FC Internazionale Milano's Maicon, Matija Nastasić of ACF Fiorentina and free agent Richard Wright.

The 25-year-old García has joined the English champions for an initial €20.2m fee. The defensive midfielder began his career at Real Madrid CF, but made just 18 first-team outings and moved on to Benfica in 2009. He caught the eye during his 74 matches over three seasons with the Eagles, winning the Portuguese Liga and playing in the team that reached the UEFA Champions League last eight in his first campaign and going on to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals the following season.

Former England Under-21 winger Sinclair scored 28 goals in 82 league appearances for Swansea but was delighted to finalise a €10m move to the Manchester club. "I'm glad everything is settled and I'm now a City player," said Sinclair, 23, who has signed a four-year deal. "I can't wait to get started. Playing alongside some of the best players in the world is exciting for me and when you see two Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid on the horizon, it brings it all home."

Right-back Maicon, meanwhile, has ended his six-season stay at Inter by joining City for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old Brazilian international, who registered 16 goals in 177 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri, has signed a contract described as "permanent" by his new employers.

Defender Matija Nastasić has traded places with compatriot Stefan Savić, the 19-year-old Nastasić leaving Fiorentina after just one season in Italy while Montenegrin centre-back Savić departs England 12 months after joining City from FK Partizan. Roberto Mancini's team have paid a reported €15.1m to secure the services of Nastasić.

City have also signed former Arsenal FC goalkeeper Richard Wright, who has agreed a one-year deal.
