• Summer signing Schieber made his first start for the club in Saturday's 5-0 win against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach as, for the first time in 60 competitive games, Robert Lewandowski was not in the XI.

• Dortmund's 31-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, dating back a year and four days to a 2-1 defeat by Hannover 96, ended when they lost 3-2 at Hamburger SV on 22 September.

• Three days later Jürgen Klopp's side squandered a two-goal lead as they drew 3-3 with Eintracht Frankfurt. It was the first time since February 2010 Dortmund have conceded three in back-to-back games.

• Moritz Leitner is likely to be involved when Germany play Switzerland in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs, with the first leg in Leverkusen on 12 October.

• Dortmund started their German Cup defence with a 3-0 victory at fifth division side FC Oberneuland on 18 August. They face second-tier VfR Aalen in the second round on 30 October.
