• This is Celtic's 150th European Cup match. They have scored 46 goals in the UEFA Champions League, group stage to final.

• The 3-2 win at Spartak on matchday two was Celtic's first in 21 attempts away from home in the UEFA Champions League. They had lost 19 of the previous 20.

• Fraser Forster has played all 810 minutes of Celtic's campaign, qualifying included. Kelvin Wilson has featured for all 450 minutes in the group stage.

• Ten of the side that started on matchday one were making group stage debuts, with Scott Brown the exception.

• Victor Wanyama serves a one-game ban on matchday six.

• Joe Chalmers and Rabiu Ibrahim made their first competitive starts for Celtic on Saturday as a team showing nine changes from the side that beat Heart of Midlothian FC 4-0 in midweek were held 1-1 at home to third-tier Arbroath FC in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

• Substitute Emilio Izaguirre returned from a hamstring problem that had kept him out since 4 November.

• Celtic have gone three home games without a win for the first time since November/December 2010.

• Celtic have scored 21 goals in their eight league games on the road this season; they have just seven in seven matches at Celtic Park.

• Lennon's team will play Saint Mirren FC in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park on 27 January.

• Eight points from their opening five fixtures represented Celtic's worst start to a league season since 1998/99.

UEFA Champions League statistics
• Spartak caretaker coach Valeri Karpin takes charge of his first UEFA Champions League game since a 2-1 victory at MŠK Žilina on 8 December 2010. He has won two of his three previous away games as a coach in the competition.

• Dmitri Kombarov has played every minute of Spartak's group stage campaign.

• Nicolas Pareja is available after a one-game ban following his red card on matchday four. Marek Suchý and Kim Källström will incur a suspension with their next bookings.

Miscellaneous
• Pareja (69) and Juan Insaurralde (90+3) were dismissed on Friday as Spartak suffered a third successive defeat, losing 4-2 at home to FC Zenit St Petersburg. Spartak have conceded 12 goals in their last three games.

• Aiden McGeady came on against Zenit on his return from a foot injury picked up on 16 October. Sergei Parshivlyuk has been sidelined with a knee ligament injury since the summer but is back in training, while Sergei Pesyakov broke his second metatarsal on 20 October and has not appeared since.

• Unai Emery was dismissed on 25 November in the wake of Spartak's 5-1 home loss to rivals FC Dinamo Moskva. The following day it was announced that CEO Karpin would be in charge until the end of 2012.

• Spartak triumphed 5-0 at PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara on 3 November, their biggest win since beating FC Tom Tomsk by the same scoreline on 27 September 2009. It was their biggest away league victory since a 5-0 triumph at FC Fakel Voronezh on 18 August 2001.

• Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is unavailable until the new year with an abdominal injury, while Romulo (since 23 September) and Soslan Gatagov (11 August) were ruled out of the group stage with knee ligament injuries. Welliton underwent collarbone surgery on 27 November and is out until 2013.

• This season Spartak won their first three league games for only the fourth time. On the previous three occasions, in 1994, 1997 and 1999, they went on to claim the title.

• Ghana forward Majeed Waris will join Spartak from BK Häcken in January.
