Pereira demands maturity from Porto

Vítor Pereira is demanding a showing of "tactical and emotional maturity" on Wednesday when Group A leaders FC Porto take on FC Dynamo Kyiv, who have promised to "play to win".

FC Porto's UEFA Champions League Group A record may be unblemished so far, but coach Vítor Pereira is taking nothing for granted ahead of FC Dynamo Kyiv's visit to the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday. Pereira is demanding caution and maturity from his players as they face a Dynamo side without coach Oleh Blokhin, who has been forbidden from flying after suffering from hypertension earlier this month.

Coach Vítor Pereira
In our last two Champions League outings, my players put in a couple of very good displays and we expect another on Wednesday. Dynamo are full of quality and they have a number of good players, especially in attack. They're very strong in the offensive transitions so we have to pay attention and be wary.

Dynamo can still qualify, but we expect to play like we have until now, using our courage and identity to claim all three points, which is the important thing. To win in the Champions League you need tactical and emotional maturity, and I'm sure we have that.

Even if we win, qualification will not be guaranteed for us, nor will elimination be confirmed for Dynamo.

Weekend result
Saturday: CE Santa Eulália 0-1 Porto (Danilo 31)

Fabiano; Danilo, Ba, Mangala, Quiñones (Varela 61); Rolando, Castro, Kelvin (Lopes 61); Atsu, Kléber, Iturbe (Sebá 72).

• Danilo's first goal for Porto earned the Dragons a place in the Portuguese Cup fourth round. Fabiano, Abdoulaye Ba, Héctor Quiñones, Kelvin and Sebá made their debuts for the club, while Rolando featured for the first time this season.

Team news
Miguel Lopes is expected to deputise at left-back as Alex Sandro is out with a left thigh injury sustained against Sporting Clube de Portugal on 7 October.

Assistant coach Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko

This match is very important for us; this is the Champions League, not the Ukranian Premier League. We are playing against Porto, who are first in the group, but we will play to win. They have a young team who come into this game in good shape. From what I have seen of Porto's matches, they play their own way and they make their opponent play their game.

Weekend result
Saturday: Dynamo 1-3 FC Metalist Kharkiv (Yarmolenko 59; Taison 34, Cleiton Xavier 52pen, Torres 90+3)

Shovkovskiy; Gusev, Khacheridi, Mikhalik, Taiwo; Vukojević, Veloso (Milevskiy 76); Mehmedi (Ruben 83), Raffael (Kranjčar 46), Yarmolenko; Brown.

• The defeat was Dynamo's second in succession without Blokhin on the bench. The Bilo-Syni are 12 points behind Ukrainian Premier League leaders FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Team news
Raffael (adductor), Andriy Bogdanov (ankle), Leandro Almeida (ankle) and Danilo Silva did not travel to Portugal, but Betão is available again.

Match fact
The teams met in the 2008/09 group stage with each winning away: Dynamo were 1-0 victors in Portugal, Porto prevailed 2-1 in Ukraine. Porto won 2-1 home and away against Dynamo in the 1986/87 European Champion Clubs' Cup semi-final, with stricken Dynamo coach Blokhin in the starting lineup for both games.
