Oscar night 'perfect' for Chelsea's Di Matteo

Oscar night 'perfect' for Chelsea's Di Matteo

Roberto Di Matteo hailed a "perfect" Oscar display after the Brazilian marked his full Chelsea FC debut with two goals against Juventus, who showed "soul" according to Massimo Carrera.

It was a very good game and towards the end either side could have won it. We had chances to get the third goal and close the game out, but they equalised and in the end it was a fair draw. We feel a little bit deflated at the moment. We found ourselves in a great position to win the game and only got a draw, but we knew we were playing against a quality side with a lot of good players.

We made a couple of mistake for the goals, but they showed good movement and quality finishes. Oscar was perfect tonight. We were waiting for the right game to put him in and he did a great job tactically and scored two goals; his second was fantastic. He played a big role for us today. He's a big talent. We shouldn't forget he's still a young man, but he's already established with the Brazil national team, which is very difficult. We are very lucky to have him on our team.

We conceded the first goal when Vidal was off the pitch. The second goal was a magnificent strike from Oscar. But we did very well tonight, we were in good physical condition and that's how we helped turn the match around.

Vidal reflects the soul of this team. He was injured and we were going to take him off, but he said he was OK and he came back to score a goal – it just shows our strength. We were losing by two goals but came back fighting. We also know we have weaknesses that we have to work on. We could have won it; we could have lost it as well. But that's football. I'm just happy that tonight we proved we can play European football at this level.
