Fenerbahçe aim to double up on 'Gladbach

Fenerbahçe SK secured a first-ever win against a German club earlier in the group stage, and are now looking to do the double against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in Group C.

Fenerbahçe SK will look to end their UEFA Europa League Group C campaign on a high as VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach head for Istanbul with both sides' places in the round of 32 already secured.

Group C permutations
Fenerbahçe SK have qualified as group winners.

• VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach are through as runners-up due to their head-to-head superiority over Marseille.

Marseille and AEL are out.

Previous meetings
• Fenerbahçe secured their first win against a German side on matchday two, winning 4-2 as Mönchengladbach's first meeting with a Turkish side ended badly. After the hosts took an 18th-minute lead through Luuk de Jong, a sublime Cristian free-kick and Raul Meireles' drive gave the visitors a half-time advantage. Dirk Kuyt added a third 19 minutes from time, and although Igor De Camargo pulled one back just three minutes later, Cristian's late strike clinched it.

• Fenerbahçe's ten games against German teams have ended W1 D2 L7 (W0 D2 L3 in Istanbul – W1 D0 L4 in Germany). They have drawn their last two home games against German teams.

Match background
• Fenerbahçe are on a four-game winning streak in Group C and have not conceded in their last three European games.

• The Yellow Canaries are unbeaten in five European home games – four draws followed by a win against AEL Limassol FC on matchday four.

• The Istanbul side, FC Rubin Kazan, FC Metalist Kharkiv and Olympique Lyonnais share the best record in this season's group stage, with 13 points each going into matchday six.

• Mönchengladbach are unbeaten in five European away games: three wins followed by two Group C draws.

Team facts
• Mönchengladbach need four more goals to reach 300 in UEFA competition; this is their 135th official European game.

• Fenerbahçe have three German-born players, all of whom have represented Bundesliga clubs: Hanam Ali Kaldırım (1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FSV Mainz 05), Sezer Öztürk (Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 1. FC Nürnberg) and Serdar Kesimal (1. FC Köln).

• Mönchengladbach's Filip Daems played in Turkey for Gençlerbirligi SK (2001–04), where Fenerbahçe right-back Orhan Şam was one of his team-mates.

• Mönchengladbach midfielder Tolga Cigerci is German-born but of Turkish extraction.

• Aykut Kocaman made his name with Fenerbahçe as a striker, winning two titles in an eight-year stint (1988–96). He moved into coaching at Istanbulspor AŞ, and following spells at Malatyaspor, Konyaspor and Ankaraspor, became Fenerbahçe's director of football. He then became coach in 2010, winning the title in his first season and the Turkish Cup in the next campaign.

• As a midfielder, Mönchengladbach coach Lucien Favre won the 1984/85 Swiss title with Servette FC and 24 caps for Switzerland. He won further Swiss Cups as a coach with Servette and FC Zürich, as well as two titles with the latter. He has specialised in creating competitive sides in Germany on modest budgets, finishing fourth in the Bundesliga with Hertha BSC Berlin in 2008/09 and Mönchengladbach in 2011/12.
