• Scored 36 goals in all competitions for Club Atlético de Madrid in 2011/12 – more than any previous player in his debut season at the club – and was third in the Liga goal charts behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

• Was top marksman for the second season running in the UEFA Europa League, with 12 goals. The last two came in the final, a 3-0 win against Athletic Club in Bucharest, which also brought him his second successive winners' medal in the competition.

• Began the 2012/13 season with a blistering hat-trick against Chelsea FC in the UEFA Super Cup, which Atlético won 4-1, and spearheaded the team's outstanding start in the Liga, reaching ten goals before the end of October; also on target five times for Colombia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
