FC Barcelona will be without Alexis Sánchez for their remaining UEFA Champions League Group G encounters with FC Spartak Moskva and SL Benfica after the forward strained an ankle ligament on international duty with Chile.

The former Udinese Calcio winger lasted just 20 minutes of his country's 3-1 friendly defeat by Serbia in Switzerland on Wednesday after injuring the external lateral ligament in his right ankle joint. Barcelona medics have confirmed the 23-year-old will be sidelined for four weeks. Along with Barça's trip to Spartak on Tuesday and the visit of Benfica on 5 December, Alexis is expected to miss up to six domestic matches before the Christmas break.

Despite their matchday four defeat at Celtic FC, Tito Vilanova's side lead Group G with three victories from four.
