Yaya Touré

Manchester City FC

• A colossal contributor to Manchester City FC's 2011/12 Premier League title triumph – as he had been a year earlier in the club's FA Cup win – and especially inspirational in the closing weeks of the campaign as the Citizens posted six successive victories.

• Gave a man-of-the-match display in the crucial win against title rivals Manchester United FC (1-0) and scored both goals in a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United FC on the penultimate weekend of the season

• Competed at his fourth Africa Cup of Nations as the continent's reigning footballer of the year and scored his tenth goal for Ivory Coast in the quarter-final triumph over tournament co-hosts Equatorial Guinea; a loser on penalties, however, in the final against Zambia.
