Raúl Bobadilla has left BSC Young Boys after just a year at the club to join fellow Swiss Super League side FC Basel 1893.
Bobadilla moved to Young Boys from VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in January 2012 and has since scored 12 goals in 24 league games. He was more prolific in this season's UEFA Europa League group stage, finding the net five times in six appearances, but Young Boys failed to get out of Group A. The 25-year-old's new employers came second in Group G and will play FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the round of 32.
"The club is constantly trying to keep the squad's quality at an appropriate level and we also have to account for upcoming or past transfers away from the club," read a Basel statement. "Thus, we look at the signing of Raúl Bobadilla as a very important one for our attack." Bobadilla himself proclaimed Basel to be a "big club" capable of winning titles.
