Israel concluded their UEFA European Under-21 Championship preparations with a 1-0 victory against Slovakia in Haifa.
Guy Luzon's hosts, who tackle Norway in their Group A opener a week today, were rewarded for their early composure when Alon Turgeman found the net after eight minutes. Taking receipt of Ofer Verta's centre, the Maccabi Haifa FC striker finished with aplomb from close range.
Despite making nine second-half changes, Israel continued to dictate proceedings with Omri Altman and Mohammad Kalibat both squandering good opportunities, while visiting goalkeeper Dobrivoj Rusov had to be at his best to deny Israel Zaguri.
