Southampton swoop for Celtic's Wanyama

Kenyan international midfielder Victor Wanyama, 22, has left Scottish champions Celtic FC to join Southampton FC in a deal thought to worth in the region of €14m.

Victor Wanyama has left Scottish champions Celtic FC to join Southampton FC in a deal thought to worth in the region of €14m.

The Kenya midfielder, 22, has signed a four-year deal with the English Premier League side and the reported fee would break the previous highest received transfer from a Scottish club.

It is also significantly more than the €1m Celtic paid K. Beerschoot AC for Wanyama two summers ago. He made 91 appearances for the Glasgow outfit, his 13 goals including one in the 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage.
