"The fans go full throttle and so do we," said Eintracht Frankfurt's Marco Russ after the 3-0 success against FC Girondins de Bordeaux, whose coach Francis Gillot was left worried.

Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer Marco Russ said the crowd helped his side get off to an ideal start in their first appearance of the group stage since 2006/07, as early goals from him and Václav Kadlec set Armin Veh's men on the way to a 3-0 success. "The fans go full throttle and so do we," said the defender in praise of the inspiring Frankfurt Stadion crowd. FC Girondins de Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot made no attempt to disguise his anxiety after the final whistle. "I am very worried," he admitted. "We have work ahead."

Marco Russ, Eintracht defender
We enjoyed the atmosphere from the first minute on and went full throttle right from kick-off. The fans go full throttle and so do we. We started the match perfectly and Kadlec scored again. It gave us an extra boost. We pressed them high up the pitch and they did not get into the game at all. I think we did well today and Bordeaux were lacking the means to free themselves from our grip. That is what we had intended to do and we achieved that superbly.

Sebastian Jung, Eintracht defender
We came onto the pitch and wanted to put them under pressure right away, which we did. The early goal played into our hands and then we scored a second right after that. In the second half we had to be careful because Bordeaux put us under some pressure, but after the third goal their resistance was broken. It remains to be seen [what is possible against APOEL FC on matchday two]. We will surely analyse their game. But before that we have three different matches and will focus on those first.

Francis Gillot, Bordeaux coach
We conceded a first goal after four minutes and another one which damned us after 15 minutes. Afterwards, we were able to react a little bit. We had two or three opportunities to reduce the arrears but we did not do it and after their third it was all over. It is concerning. I am worried for the future, not only in Europe but in the league as well. Match after match we fail to correct things. I am very worried. We have players who did not perform the way I expected them to. We have work ahead.

Cédric Carrasso, Bordeaux goalkeeper
It is bad to concede two goals within 15 minutes in this fashion. Of course, it was a great atmosphere, but they were not such a great side. In the middle of the first half we were able to cause them problems. We made some mistakes which we usually don't make. Today we are responsible. We have to do things differently to win again. We now have three matches in Ligue 1 before we return to this tournament and the second game. Last season we lost 3-0 in Newcastle as well and won the reverse fixture. I am always conceding goals [at the moment] and I have the feeling it is the same story every week. It is difficult.
