Marcelino success rewarded by Villarreal

Villarreal CF coach Marcelino García Toral will continue to lead the Spanish Liga side until June 2016 after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

The deal – a two-year extension to his original terms – represents a fitting reward for the former Real Sporting de Gijón, RC Recreativo de Huelva, Real Racing Club, Real Zaragoza and Sevilla FC tactician who was appointed in January. He led the Yellow Submarine to top-flight promotion last season and has now steered them to fourth place in the standings.

Speaking about the 48-year-old's achievements, Villarreal president Fernando Roig said: "He's been getting great results which are plain for everyone to see. He understands the philosophy and the way to work here." The team from the Valencia region resume their Liga campaign away to Levante UD on 24 November.
