Brazilian back at Porto

FC Porto have re-signed Brazilian midfield player Paulo Assunção four years after his loan spell at the club.

Brazilian midfield player Paulo Assunção has returned to UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto four years after an unsuccessful loan spell at the club.

Impressive displays
The reigning SuperLiga champions have signed the 24-year-old on a four-year contract after a series of impressive displays with Portuguese rivals CD Nacional, whom he helped to fourth spot in the top flight last season.

Unsuccessful spell
Assunção first joined Porto's reserve side in 2000 on loan from Brazilian side SE Palmeiras, but he failed to establish himself and returned to his homeland after a year.

'Best option'
"I am feeling very happy about my return to a club were I was treated so well in the past," he said. "I want to help the club achieve more success. There were some clubs interested in me, but FC Porto is definitely the best option."
