UEFA Europa League contenders Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed to take midfielder Tobias Weis on loan from fellow Bundesliga outfit TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the rest of the season with an option to make the move permanent.
Weis, 28, has not featured for Hoffenheim this term but has made over 100 league appearances for the club since joining from VfB Stuttgart in 2007. He has one Germany cap, having played in a friendly victory over the United Arab Emirates in 2009. "We are happy to have signed another player in Tobias Weis," said Eintracht sporting director Bruno Hübner. "He can operate in several positions in midfield and is an additional option for us."
Eintracht also recently added unattached former VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha BSC Berlin defender Alexander Madlung to their ranks. The Frankfurt team travel to FC Porto for the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 20 February before hosting the Portuguese side a week later.
