FC Salzburg will have to do without left-back Andreas Ulmer for their UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie with FC Basel 1893 after he sustained a calf bone injury during the last-32 second leg victory against AFC Ajax.

The Austrian Bundesliga leaders' impressive 6-1 aggregate success over the Dutch champions was soured by the news the 28-year-old had fractured the head of his fibula, resulting in a lay-off of four to six weeks. Ulmer had crossed for Jonatan Soriano to score Salzburg's third during Thursday's 3-1 home win on what was his 37th appearance for Roger Schmidt's men this season.

The injury means the once-capped Austrian international and former FK Austria Wien defender will miss the entire tie against Basel, with the first instalment in Switzerland on 13 March and the return in Salzburg a week later.
