Starke situation gives Bayern a headache

FC Bayern München's second-choice goalkeeper Tom Starke has torn a ligament in his right elbow, leaving the club short of reserve options for their UEFA Champions League decider against Manchester United FC.

The 33-year-old Starke was injured during the club's final training session ahead of today's Bundesliga meeting with FC Augsburg and will be out of action for the remainder of the season. With third-choice goalkeeper Lukas Raeder also unavailable for the next two weeks through injury, the second-choice custodian in Bayern's reserve team, Leopold Zingerle, has been called up as cover.

The 19-year-old Zingerle has made ten appearances for Bayern's reserves this season and is likely to be on the bench on Wednesday as the holders look to build on a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in the first leg.
