Manchester United FC boss David Moyes confirmed that Ashley Young has "torn ligaments in his hand" and is unlikely to make Wednesday's trip to FC Bayern München.

Ashley Young is a doubt for Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League quarter-final decider against FC Bayern München after damaging his hand on Saturday.

The 28-year-old winger was taken off inside 20 minutes in United's 4-0 win at Newcastle United FC following a collision with Massadio Haïdara, and subsequently received hospital treatment. Manager David Moyes later confirmed that Young had "torn ligaments in his hand". There has been no suggestion yet as to the length of his absence, but the England international – who has played in eight UEFA Champions League fixtures this season – is likely to miss the trip to Germany. United drew 1-1 against Bayern in the first leg on Tuesday.
