Celtic FC overpowered KR Reykjavík, securing their place in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round with a 4-0 second-leg win.

The Bhoys huffed and puffed to little avail last week in Iceland, and had just a one-goal advantage to show for their efforts. However, the KR defence that proved so stoic in the first leg was breached three times before the break. Defender Virgil van Dijk helped himself to two of the goals and Teemu Pukki tapped in the third. The impressive Pukki completed his own double late in the second half.

Van Dijk's goals all but ended the contest early on, and they were almost carbon copies. Both came from Kris Commons corners, the defender gleefully prodding in his first from Charlie Mulgrew's knock-down and the second after Mikael Lustig's flick-on.

Last week's goalscoring debutant Callum McGregor turned provider when he drove to the byline and drilled low across goal for Pukki to slide in. Two Commons efforts were beaten away by Stefán Magnússon and the playmaker then rattled the woodwork. Pukki struck again with 19 minutes left, knocking the ball past Magnússon and rifling into the top corner.

Either Saint Patrick's Athletic FC or Legia Warszawa await Ronny Deila's side in the next round.
