Juan Vargas's first-half goal and the dismissal of Moustapha Diallo sealed EA Guingamp's fate as ACF Fiorentina eased to victory in Group K.

The early exchanges at the Stadio Artemio Franchi were characterised by Juan Cuadrado's frequent attempts to find a way round the back of the Guingamp defence. However, it was Jasmin Kurtič who showed him how it was done with a perfect, powerful delivery from the right which Vargas headed in from close range.

Jérémy Pied offered the main source of Guingamp's hopes, yet when Diallo picked up a second yellow card in the 38th minute, recovery seemed increasingly unlikely. The French outfit still managed to create a chance when Claudio Beauvue tested Ciprian Tătăruşanu's alertness in the Fiorentina goal, but the home side responded.

Midway through the second half, the game was all but safe as David Pizarro's precise pass picked out Cuadrado around the back of the Guingamp defence. Having got there eventually, he fizzed a shot across Mamadou Samassa into the far corner.

A long-range effort from substitute Bernardeschi – a 20-year-old making only his second appearance for the club – then put the seal on Fiorentina's victory.
