Miroslav Radović scored the only goal of the game 13 minutes into the second half to see off KSC Lokeren OV as Legia Warszawa began Group L with a win.

The wind seemed to be at the back of the home side in the opening exchanges as they piled on early pressure which came to nothing. Michał Żyro led the way with a pair of efforts, though his first shot went wide and the second, from 25 metres, was kept out by Boubacar Barry.

Lokeren No1's opposite number, Dušan Kuciak, had less to do in the first 45 minutes, but he did not disappoint when called into action, blocking with his foot when Hans Vanaken tried to beat him from inside the penalty area.

Despite that chance, it was Legia who ended the half the stronger, and Tomasz Brzyski zipped a free-kick just over the visitors' goal after Radović's probing run had drawn a foul. Lokeren were more active in the early stages of the second period, but Legia were able to pounce on the counterattack to take the lead.

Michał Kucharczyk sprinted clear down the left flank and played in Radović, who made his finish look easy, firing past Barry to give the home side the advantage and add to the five goals he notched in UEFA Champions League qualifying.

With the final of this season's competition being played just a few kilometres from Legia's home at the National Stadium Warsaw, the Polish champions made sure to protect their lead and secure an ideal start on their road to the decider.
