Daum delighted with win

Christoph Daum praised Fenerbahçe SK's fans as their win at AC Sparta Praha ensured more European football.

František Straka, Sparta coach
We finished in the same way as we started in Istanbul. We defeated ourselves by our own mistakes. When we are not able to profit from so many chances, opponents punish us. It was the thread running through our Champions League season. We started well today and if Lukás Zelenka had scored from that clear position, the game could have gone differently. We had another great chance in the dying moments, but to no avail again. I am not blaming anybody, but the mix-up between our goalkeeper [Jaromír Blazek] and Radoslav Kovác before the goal and wasted opportunities in attack were the key factors today.

Christoph Daum, Fenerbahçe coach
We have improved Fenerbahçe's record in Europe as we did not earn a single point in our last Champions League campaign, while we now have six and a game still to play. I am also glad to lead the first ever Turkish side to win Prague. We missed several players, but the substitutes replaced them well and our young team coped with their task. We could have won by more goals, but the home goalkeeper made three outstanding saves. On the other hand we were lucky on some occasions. I would like to thank our fans, who were the 12th player and we needed their help.
