France 1-0 Israel A solitary Anthony Le Tallec goal gives new France coach René Girard a winning start.

A solitary Anthony Le Tallec goal gave France a winning start to their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign against Israel in Beauvais.

Missed penalty
Bryan Bergougnoux had already missed a penalty for the home team when Le Tallec, on loan at AS Saint-Etienne from Liverpool FC, struck after 24 minutes to give René Girard three points in his first game since replacing Raymond Domenech as coach.
