Neymar joins Ronaldo hot on Messi's heels

Neymar's two goals against FC Bayern München took him to nine in this season's UEFA Champions League, level with Cristiano Ronaldo and one behind team-mate Lionel Messi.

FC Barcelona forward Neymar's two goals on Tuesday moved him to within one of team-mate Lionel Messi at the head of this season's UEFA Champions League scoring chart.

Messi still leads the way on ten strikes – two of which came in the first leg of the Azulgrana's semi-final success against FC Bayern München – but he is just one clear of Neymar, Real Madrid CF ace Cristiano Ronaldo and Luiz Adriano, who is unable to add to his tally following FC Shakhtar Donetsk's round of 16 elimination. Ronaldo will look to catch Messi – who is also a solitary goal ahead in the all-time competition proper scoring table – when Madrid take on Juventus on Wednesday.

Among those who are two strikes behind the chasing pack, on seven, are Bianconeri attacker Carlos Tévez and Thomas Müller, on the mark against Barcelona in Munich on Tuesday.
