Poland forward Robert Lewandowski needs to score once against the Republic of Ireland in Warsaw on Sunday to equal David Healy's 13-goal record for a single EURO qualifying campaign.

Lewandowski opened the scoring in Poland's 2-2 draw away to Scotland on Thursday and then rescued a point with his scrambled equaliser deep into added time, taking his Group D tally to 12. He is the leading marksman in qualification, four ahead of Thomas Müller and five in front of Artem Dzyuba, Edin Džeko, Wayne Rooney and Kyle Lafferty.

The Bayern München attacker is enjoying a sensational spell, registering 14 times in his last five appearances for club and country – the Scotland game included. That run started with five in ten minutes in a Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg 16 days ago.

Healy's 13 goals came in qualifying for UEFA EURO 2008, a tournament Northern Ireland ultimately missed out on. However, the Northern Irish secured a place at next summer's finals on Thursday – their first ever EURO.
