Bremen duo nurse injuries

Werder Bremen duo Frank Baumann and Angelos Charisteas were both injured at FC Internazionale Milano.

Werder Bremen could be without Frank Baumann and Angelos Charisteas for their next UEFA Champions League match against Valencia CF after the duo both suffered injuries in Tuesday's defeat at FC Internazionale Milano.

Extensive treatment
Midfield player Baumann strained a calf ligament when bringing down Adriano for Inter's second penalty of the night. With Christian Vieri having missed the first, the Brazilian duly got up to convert and set the Nerazzurri on their way to a 2-0 victory. Bremen will give the 28-year-old Baumann extensive treatment in an attempt to get him fit for the visit of the Spanish champions on 29 September.

Accidental elbow
Charisteas also returned to Germany with an injury having spent time in an Italian hospital having his ear checked. The man who scored the winning goal for Greece in the final of UEFA EURO 2004™ was in severe pain following an accidental elbow from Inter defender Marco Materazzi late on at the San Siro. Bremen do not yet know how long he will be out for.
