Eszter Urban will referee Sunday's UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship final between France and Spain in Slovakia – and can look close to home if she needs any support.
The Hungarian has been an international referee since 2010. She was joined on the FIFA list last year by her husband, Ádám Farkas, who has officiated in the UEFA Europa League. For Urban, the partnership is important. "We can understand each other," Urban told UEFA.com. "Before and after games we can talk about matches and what we can improve in the future."
This is Urban's second WU19 EURO, and her selection for the decider in Senec follows the appointment of an all-Hungarian team led by Katalin Kulcsár for this season's UEFA Women's Champions League final in Italy. "When I heard I was very happy," Urban said. "It is a very big challenge for me.
"When I started to referee my dream was to oversee a final, but any match is important. There are two very good teams in the final and I am excepting a very good game."
Urban, who will be assisted by England's Lisa Rashid and Ukraine's Maryna Striletska as well as Macedonian fourth official Ivana Projkovska, has enjoyed working with the refereeing team in Slovakia as well as their observers and instructors, led by Bo Karlsson.
"The tournament is all about learning for me and everybody else. All the referees have been very friendly and we have enjoyed the long trip here. We talk to each other about how we can do better in the future. And the observers help us, too. If we have any questions they tell us how to improve."
