England bandwagon keeps rolling

England 2-0 Wales James Milner and Darren Bent scored to maintain England's perfect Group 6 record.

England kept up their 100 per cent record in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 6 as James Milner and substitute Darren Bent struck second-half goals.

Cole forced off
The home side were on top from the start, and Carlton Cole went close on 17 minutes not long before an ankle injury forced his replacement by Bent. Welsh goalkeeper Lewis Price then did well to save from Bent and Jonathan Stead before the visiting midfield player David Vaughan struck a post eight minutes before the break.

England goals
However, Wales were behind seconds after the interval as Jermaine Pennant found ex-Leeds United AFC team-mate James Milner, and the 18-year-old sent a diagonal shot into the net. England were now well on top, and after Stead had struck the crossbar, Bent scored his seventh U21 goal - all as substitute - when he headed in Stewart Downing's free-kick from close range.

Azerbaijan trip
With the visit to Azerbaijan to come on Tuesday, England are now six points clear in the group with three wins. Wales, who won in Baku in their previous fixture, welcome Poland to Swansea on the same day.
