Djurgården/Älsvjö coach Thomas Dennerby is to assist Marika Domanski-Lyfors at the helm of the Swedish national side.
'New challenge'
Dennerby, who last year led Djurgårdens/Älvsjö to their first Swedish title, announced that this season would be his last in charge of the side, saying: "I think I have taken this club as far as I can, and I need a new challenge." His club are currently unbeaten in the league and closing in on the title, and in the next few weeks will meet domestic rivals Umeå IK in the UEFA Women's Cup quarter-finals and Swedish Cup final.
June finals
He will then join the Sweden set-up in time for the 2005 UEFA European Women's Championship final tournament, from 5-19 June in England, replacing Per Hansson, who has stepped down after eight years in the post. Domanski-Lyfors said: "Thomas is an analytically skilled coach who will fit well into our set-up. It feels natural to choose a club coach, as we have worked very closely with them when it comes to developing the players, and also when it comes to scouting our opponents."
