Basma ruled out for Rosenborg

Rosenborg BK will have to do without Norway defender Christer Basma for the rest of their group stage campaign.

Rosenborg BK will have to do without Christer Basma for the remainder of their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign.

Groin surgery
The right-back has been ruled out for at least two months after having surgery on a groin injury today. The 32-year-old Norwegian international had appeared in Rosenborg's first two group-stage fixtures but was absent on Wednesday when a 2-1 defeat by PSV Eindhoven left them bottom of Group E.

Tight finish
Basma will also miss the final two games of Rosenborg's league season, with the player targeting a return early in the new year. "I hope to be back in action in time for our training camp in Spain in January," he said. The champions, who announced yesterday that coach Ola By Rise will leave the club in December, are top on goal difference from Vålerenga IF.
