Deserved praise for front two

Group E reaction: There was delight in the victorious FK Partizan and Middlesbrough FC camps.

We were in control throughout and deserved the victory. We had a wind advantage in the second half - my goalkeeper Ivica Kralj pointed this out to me at half-time so I told my team to shoot more. Simon Vukcevic's goal was the result of that. Now we are in a good position and I believe we will stay in European competition until the spring. We can do better, but for now I am happy and would like to congratulate my players and our supporters. Partizan coach Vladimir Vermezovic

Congratulations to Partizan - they deserved the three points. Partizan showed the quality of a team that has played UEFA Champions League football [last season]. I cannot criticise my players because the opposition was simply better. But I hope we can perform differently in the future, when Egaleo have grown up a little. We will try to improve in our next UEFA Cup matches, but tonight we had no answer to a strong Partizan side. Egaleo coach Stephane Demol

It was a perfect European night. These nights are a little bit special, and bringing Lazio here was fantastic, I sensed a real expectancy around the town. It was a great performance, with two great goals, although we should have won more comfortably. We were in control throughout, we got among Lazio and didn't let them play. We looked threatening every time we went forward, and I think this result will make people across Europe sit up and take notice of Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough coach Steve McClaren
