Baruchyan strikes for Israel

Cyprus 0-1 Israel Aviram Baruchyan's goal against the run of play gives Israel the points in Larnaca.

Al-Madon impresses
Baruchyan broke the deadlock with eight minutes remaining after Maccabi Haifa FC goalkeeper Tom Al-Madon had pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep Israel on level terms.

'Wonderful team'
"We have a wonderful team and deserved to win," said Israel coach Guy Levi, whose side beat Cyprus by the same scoreline in September. "Now we are ranked second but thinking of first spot. We always said we wanted to qualify and now we have a good chance to do so."

Israel second
The win takes Israel to within two points of leaders France and leaves Cyprus still looking for their first point. Israel next play the Republic of Ireland on 25 March in Hertzliya, while Cyprus travel to Switzerland four days later.
