De Cock delight at Brugge offer

Defender Olivier De Cock has committed his future to Club Brugge KV by signing a new deal until 2009.

Club Brugge KV defender Olivier De Cock has committed his future to the Belgian club by signing a new deal that will keep him at the Jan Breydel stadium until the summer of 2009.

Difficult year
The 29-year-old right-back has endured a difficult year following surgery on both ankles in April, but he returned to the Brugge side in October then regained his place in the Belgium team for the 17 November fixture against Serbia and Montenegro.

'Very pleased'
"I see this contract as a thank you from Club Brugge," said De Cock, who joined the club as a seven-year-old and has since played 181 league games. "It's reward for all the hard work I had to do to get back to the top again. I needed a long time to get back, and that's why I'm very pleased with his new deal."

Zaragoza test
Brugge must beat Real Zaragoza in their final UEFA Cup Group C match on 12 December to be sure of qualifying for the last 32.
