Heerenveen delight, Dinamo dismay

Group G: SC Heerenveen coach Gertjan Verbeek spoke of a "job well done" after his team went through.

I am pleased that we have qualified for the next round, but I was not happy with our display. We gave Zagreb too much space and put ourselves in danger as a result. We missed a chance to leave an impression today and have to continue to work hard in order to improve. Stuttgart coach Matthias Sammer

Congratulations to VfB. We had our chances today because Stuttgart were under par and were not as good as we'd expected. But in the end they still deserved to win. Dinamo Zagreb coach Ilija Loncarevic

I am really relieved to have qualified for the next round. We've done a great job. Our target was seven points and we achieved it. After starting too cautiously, we should really have scored a second goal, especially after their red card, as we had chances in the second half. But I'd like to compliment our fans, who kept on singing even though we didn't play our best football. They stayed behind the team and that was fantastic. Heerenveen coach Gertjan Verbeek

The first half was difficult for us. We knew Heerenveen would start on the attack, with Ugur Yildirim asking questions of our defence. And after the sending-off of Sekou Ouattara, who was making his debut, I really feared that they would scored more. When they didn't, and we had chances too, you could see their fear. Overall I'm satisfied with the result. Heerenveen were the better team and we played our best football in the last 20 minutes. Being realistic, my squad is too young and inexperienced for European competition. Beveren manager Herman Helleputte
