UEFA Champions League contenders AS Monaco FC have extended the contracts of Akis Zikos and Lucas Bernardi for a further two years.
Midfield roles
Greek midfield player Zikos will now stay at the Ligue 1 side until June 2007 while Argentinian Bernardi, who is also usually deployed in a defensive midfield role by Monaco coach Didier Deschamps, has signed a new deal that will run until June of the following year.
Key figures
Bernardi, 27, moved to the Stade Louis II in June 2001 and quickly became a key player, featuring in 33 Ligue 1 games in 2003/04 and appearing in eleven of 12 Champions League games as Monaco unexpectedly reached the final. Zikos, 30, moved to the principality club in summer 2002 from AEK Athens FC and has also become an integral figure.
