Stuttgart wait on lame Lahm

Philipp Lahm may miss VfB Stuttgart's UEFA Cup tie against Parma FC after fracturing his foot.

Philipp Lahm may miss VfB Stuttgart's UEFA Cup tie against Parma FC after fracturing his foot.

Stress fracture
The German international left-back is expected to be out of action for six weeks after being diagnosed with a stress fracture to his right foot after a training session on Tuesday. He will be unavailable for action when the German season resumes following the winter break on 22 January.

European concern
However, perhaps more worrying for coach Matthias Sammer is the possibility that the 21-year-old will not be able to play in the first game against Parma in Italy in mid-February. Lahm has been a regular in the UEFA Cup for Stuttgart this season scoring in the games against SL Benfica and KSK Beveren en route to the last 32.
