Love affair over for CSKA

Vágner Love says he will not return to Russia and PFC CSKA Moskva after agreeing to join SC Corinthians.

Terms agreed
Vágner Love, who is on holiday in Brazil, said he had agreed the personal terms of a four-year contract. He claimed the cold weather in Russia was affecting his young son, Vagner Junior, and said a move would help his prospects of winning a place in the Brazil squad.

'I will not return'
"I want to play at the next [FIFA] World Cup," he told journalists at a press conference. "When I played in Russia for CSKA, I was not invited by the coaches despite scoring on a regular basis. The deal is not signed yet, we still need an OK from CSKA. However, I will not return to Russia any more. My presence at the negotiations in Moscow is not needed. I have made my choice and I want to play in Brazil."

Joined from Palmeiras
Vágner Love joined CSKA from Palmeiras FC last year for a fee in the region of €6m and CSKA are believed to want €7.5m for the 20-year-old, who scored one goal in six UEFA Champions League appearances this season.

Tevez signing
Corinthians were recently bought by the Media Sports Investments group, which is headed by Kia Joorabchian, a businessman who has already signed the 20-year-old Argentina striker Carlos Tevez from CA Boca Juniors for over €14m.

CSKA departures
Vágner Love is set to become the second departure from CSKA this month after Chelsea FC confirmed yesterday the acquisition of Czech midfielder Jiri Jarošik for some €4.3m. They will not be the only ones either, with captain Sergei Semak close to joining Paris Saint-Germain FC for a fee of around €2.5m.
