Leisure park
Work on the stadium will begin in the summer, with the aim of upgrading facilities and the infrastructure and security of the arena. The clubs are also co-operating with the City of Milan, the stadium's owner, on a proposal named the 'Quarto Anello' to develop the area around the ground into a leisure park including commercial outlets and sporting facilities.
'Meeting point for families'
"We want to make the stadium a comfortable and secure place for the fans - a meeting point for families and citizens 365 days a year," said a statement on Milan's website. The stadium, which the clubs have shared since 1935, last received a facelift in the build-up to the 1990 FIFA World Cup, when its capacity was increased to 85,700.
