No complaints from Deschamps

AS Monaco FC coach Didier Deschamps felt PSV Eindhoven deserved to reach the quarter-finals.

Didier Deschamps, Monaco coach
They had one chance from a dead-ball situation and they converted it. We had many opportunities but we squandered all of them. If we had scored before the interval it would have been a totally different match. After they went 1-0 up it was almost impossible. Over the two legs, PSV proved they were a better side than us. They are a strong and solid team, full of experience and very efficient. At this level, that makes the difference. We lacked a little experience and solidity, which turned the tie in PSV's favour. Now we have to get on with the rest of the season. We have been knocked out of a great competition and we have to do everything in our power to qualify for it again next season.

Guus Hiddink, PSV coach
We played an exemplary match. We were under pressure a little at the start and didn't keep the ball well enough. But with a bit of luck we won a corner and, having worked on a routine in training, we managed to put that into practice and scored from a rehearsed routine. We played better in the second half with the aim of scoring a second, with Phillip Cocu particularly influential. We were too much for Monaco. It's a great result for PSV because of the remaining teams in the competition, we have the smallest budget.

Mark van Bommel, PSV captain
When you think we lost [Mateja] Kezman, [Arjen] Robben and [Dennis] Rommedahl, all to English clubs, we have done very well. We might not have big stars, but everybody works very hard for the team.
