Brazilian bolsters Dynamo squad

FC Dynamo Kyiv have announced the signing of promising Brazilian defender Rodrigo da Costa for €3m.

UEFA Cup contenders FC Dynamo Kyiv have announced the signing of promising Brazilian defender Rodrigo da Costa for €3m.

'Great honour'
The 24-year-old, who turned down a transfer to Ukrainian league rivals FC Shakhtar Donetsk last year, was pleased with the move and hopes playing for his new club will boost his chances of international recognition. "It is a great honour to play for Dynamo," he said. "I know a lot about the history of this great club and I will work to better their records. One of my main goals is to make the Brazil squad. I think playing for Dynamo is a good way to do it."

Unavailable for Europe
Dynamo announced the five-year deal after their 0-0 UEFA Cup draw against Villarreal CF on Thursday, although the player is ineligible for the remainder of this season's competition. He will be available for domestic action which resumes in Ukraine on 1 March, with Jozsef Szabo's side currently in second place.
